I am often asked about the need or purpose of the curved lower trailing arms we offer. The purpose of them is really quite simple!

Many of the lower trailing arm mounts on rear ends used for demolition derby consist of large flat plates that allow for adjustment of the mounting location in the car and allow the same rear end to be used in a leaf spring car or a coil spring car.

The flexibility and adjustability of these lower mount systems are great features. However, these mounts do come with their own set of challenges.

Curved lower trailing arms are an optional upgrade to any trailing arm set or watts conversion set we offer.

The most consistent issue we have encountered is the lower trailing arm hitting this type of mount preventing proper alignment of the trailing arm bolt hole to the trailing arm mount hole.

This leads to frustration and wasted time getting the rear end set up in the car.

The first time I installed one of my rear ends with these heavy-duty lower mounts I experienced this frustration and knew there had to be a better way!

Why Curved Lower Trailing Arms Were Developed

This design keeps the overall hole to hole length identical to a standard trailing arm but adds substantial clearance between the trailing arm and the mounting plate.

The miter cut on our curved trailing arms is fully welded and reinforced with ¼” thick plates on each vertical side of the miter.

This provides an inch of steel in the area of the miter cut.  This design has been in use for multiple years across the country in numerous national events with great success.
