- Upper arm for the GM kit is 7 ¼” hole to hole
- Upper arm for the Ford kit is 8 ¼” hole to hole
When running the 98 and newer Ford it is preferred to convert the rear suspension to the older 4 link trailing arm configuration instead of the flimsy watts link suspension when you can. To do that you need a watts conversion brackets and trailing arms.
Due to the variation of upper mounting ear placement on different rear ends commonly used for demolition derby there are two types of bracket sets offered. The GM kit is specifically configured for use with a GM 10 bolt or 12 bolt rear ends found in the older full size GM cars and the Ford kit is specifically configured for use with a Ford 8.8 or anything that has had the upper ears fabricated and jigged to the housing using a Ford frame such as a 14 bolt, 9 inch, Dana 60. This application-specific design eliminates any binding typically found with a universal upper bracket due to incorrect angles and bracket placement. This rear end specific design makes installation much easier.
Our upper watts brackets are setup to locate off of the existing holes in the package tray so you know where to start in the installation process.
The kit contains only the upper brackets so that you can use modified stock trailing arms or fabricate your own.
