Every shot to your rear wheels is directly transferred to your axle shaft. If the axle shaft is not supported it can bend and eventually break. Our retrofit axle savers are designed to absorb the force from the hit on your wheel and help prevent your axle from bending and eventually breaking. Our axle savers are designed to be retrofitted on most semi-floating rear-ends. This axle saver uses nearly ½” thick material machined to ride directly on the back side of the axle flange so you are not letting the back side of the wheel studs chew away at them during contact from a wheel shot. This thicker design minimizes deflection and bending of the axle saver itself as it’s punished on the track.
The one piece design bolts onto a ½” thick flange that is welded to your axle tubes and requires removal of the axle shaft to remove the axle saver. If you run a Ford 9” rear end with the big 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern an additional ring is added to the axle saver so that it still rides on the backside of the axle flange instead of the wheel studs.
Minor grinding may be required on the backside of the axle studs for clearance depending on bolt pattern and wheel stud type.
